Supply and installation of hydraulic lock equipment in Harelbeke.
In the town of Harelbeke, a new weir and lock are being built. For the latter part, Vameco provides the entire hydraulic equipment.
The actual lock will be replaced by a new lock of 230 metres long, 12.5 metres wide and 4.7 metres deep. This will allow all modern barges to pass through the river Lys. The works for this new lock are still being carried out.
During the activities, the passage for ship transport remains open thanks to a temporary lock in use since August 2016. For this lock too, Vameco supplied the entire hydraulic equipment.
Next to the lock, there will be two hydropower screws from sister company Vandezande to generate the electricity required for an energy-neutral functioning of the lock.
